We are seeking an exceptional, in-person tutor to home school a highly able and intellectually curious student based in Geneva. This is a unique opportunity for a tutor who can combine academic excellence with mentorship, helping to shape both the educational journey and personal development of a gifted learner.
The Student
14 year old gifted and talented student with advanced ability across multiple subjects, including Maths, History and Geography. He has a particular interest in entrepreneurship and has already been invited to undertake an online undergraduate-level degree. Alongside this, his family are keen to ensure he develops a broad and well-rounded academic profile. His programme will follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), progressing to the IB Diploma, alongside opportunities for extension work at undergraduate level where appropriate.
The Role
This is a highly involved, residential position where the tutor will take responsibility for all aspects of the student’s academic learning, as well as playing a key role in his wider development.
The successful tutor will:
– Deliver a structured, ambitious academic programme aligned with IB MYP and Diploma pathways
– Stretch and challenge the student academically, including introducing undergraduate-level material where appropriate
– Provide mentorship, focusing on confidence-building, motivation and intellectual curiosity
– Support a holistic programme, including extracurricular activities such as sport and enrichment
– Help create an engaging and inspiring learning environment, incorporating travel where possible
– Provide detailed monthly reports on curriculum coverage and academic progress
Tutor Profile
– Experienced, inspiring and comfortable working to undergraduate level
– Personable, outgoing, and willing to fully immerse themselves in the role
– A natural mentor as well as an educator
– Organised and able to design and deliver a structured yet flexible curriculum
– Experienced with high-achieving or gifted students (desirable)
Practical Details
– Location: Geneva
– Lovely separate accommodation provided in a guest house
– Schedule: 5 days per week, with 2 days off
– Daily structure: Approx. 8-hour day (4–5 hours teaching, 1–2 hours planning, plus enrichment/activities)
– Salary: £2,000 per week (negotiable for exceptional candidates)
Commitment
We are ideally seeking a long-term tutor who can provide consistency and continuity. However, we are also very open to hearing from tutor who may be available on a shorter-term basis, particularly if they are a strong fit for the role.
