Location: The role will be part based in Zurich, part online and part travelling with the family.
Start Date: ASAP (1 year duration)
A full-time tutor is required for a family based in Zurich, Switzerland. The students are two trilingual twins, a boy and girl aged nine and currently enrolled at a Bilingual Swiss school. They speak fluent German, English and Russian and will be starting Grade 4 this school year. The family are looking for a highly qualified and adaptable educator to provide a tailored homeschooling program while the twins travel with their family through Asia and South Africa. The role will be part based in Zurich, part online and part travelling with the family.
Key requirements
The successful tutor will have formal teaching qualification (ideally from Switzerland, UK PGCE, IB or equivalent). They will have a high level of experience with primary-aged children, specifically Grades 3–4 and be bilingual in English and German. Ideally, they will be native German. Knowledge of the Swiss Lehrplan 21 curriculum would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite. Consideration will also be given to a tutor who has the required teaching qualifications but who may require support in more complex German language teaching from a second tutor. The goal of tuition is to ensure that both children develop at or beyond their age-appropriate level and secure a place at a German speaking Gymnasium school.
The role includes a mixture of working environments. Initially starting as soon as possible in Switzerland, the tutor will work full time with the twins, who are taking a period of six months out of school to enjoy travel opportunities with their family. For several weeks, tuition will then switch to being delivered online, with in person tuition picking up in early 2026. The children will then either return to school in February 2026 or continue full time home schooling. In either case, the tutor will be retained to support their education.
Both children are performing in the upper half of their year groups and tuition is primarily being used to maintain a continuity of education. It is also an exciting opportunity to enlarge the breadth of the children’s education. It is expected that the tutor will design and deliver a curriculum that aligns with their school curriculum. This curriculum will combine academic rigour with creative, real-world learning experiences that make use of the extensive opportunities afforded by the family’s travels. Both children are extremely sporty; the son is a lively tennis and football player, and his favourite subjects are Science and Biology. His sister is an equestrian and her academic strengths are in maths; English and creative writing will benefit from additional support from their tutor.
