Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated GCSE English tutor to deliver engaging and dynamic online lessons. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum and be able to support students in both Language and Literature components. This is a part-time, flexible position.

Key Responsibilities:

• High-Quality Tutoring:

Provide engaging and impactful online GCSE English tutoring, covering all key components of both the Language and Literature exams, including reading comprehension, literary analysis, creative writing, and exam techniques.

• Lesson Planning & Differentiation:

Plan differentiated and engaging lessons tailored to the specific needs of each student. Ensure lessons are structured to maximise student understanding and retention.

• Progress Tracking & Feedback:

Track student progress, assign appropriate homework after each lesson, mark work on a weekly basis, and provide detailed feedback. Write a report after each session to document progress and highlight areas for improvement.

• Student Support:

Prepare students for GCSE exams by focusing on critical areas such as text analysis, writing skills, and exam techniques.

• Professional Development:

Stay updated on the latest GCSE curriculum changes and exam requirements. Engage in continuous professional development.

Qualifications and work experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, or a related field.
• Proven experience in teaching GCSE English (Language and Literature).
• Familiarity with online teaching platforms and tools.
• Strong understanding of the GCSE curriculum and assessment methods.
• Ability to engage students in a virtual learning environment.

Offer:

This is a part-time role, paid by the hour at a competitive rate from £60 (depending on the candidate’s experience). A pay review will be conducted on an annual basis, ensuring fair progression aligned with experience and performance.

Flexible scheduling is available, with the opportunity to take on more students over time.
