Position Summary: 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced online tutor to provide part-time support for a student preparing for BMAT and UCAT exams for medical school applications. The tutor will deliver high-quality, remote tutoring, focusing on exam techniques, content understanding, and critical reasoning skills. This is an ideal position for someone passionate about medicine and education, with the flexibility to work online.

Key Responsibilities: 

BMAT & UCAT Preparation:

• Provide focused online tutoring in all sections of the BMAT (Aptitude & Skills, Scientific Knowledge & Application, Writing) and UCAT (Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Situational Judgement).
• Develop personalised strategies for exam preparation, including time management, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Offer subject-specific guidance in areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics where relevant to BMAT.
• Support the development of critical thinking, analysis, and written communication skills needed for the essay section of BMAT.
• Teach strategies to manage the high-pressure nature of these exams.

Support & Development:

• Create tailored lesson plans and resources according to the student's strengths, weaknesses, and progress.
• Provide regular homework assignments and practice tests to monitor improvement.
• Offer constructive feedback and strategies for continuous improvement.
• Communicate progress regularly with the student and parents, ensuring goals are being met.
• Write a brief report after each lesson to detail the child’s progress, as well as strengths and areas for improvement moving forward.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest changes in BMAT & UCAT formats and content.

Qualifications and Experience: 

Educational Background:

• Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a relevant subject such as Medicine, Biology or Chemistry.

  Skills & Experience:

• Experience tutoring for BMAT and UCAT, either privately or in an academic setting.
• Strong knowledge of BMAT & UCAT exam formats, question types, and best practices for test preparation.
• Native English proficiency.
• Excellent online communication skills with the ability to effectively engage students in a virtual environment.
